Loire Valley:

Our Little House has been newly renovated and is adjacent to our own stone house which is described below. The Little House will sleep two comfortably but there is a couch in the living room that can be used for a third person. There is a large upstairs with another pull-out couch that could be used for two more people but with no bathroom upstairs. There is one bathroom with shower downstairs and another wc that is in a small building at the back of the courtyard. This house can be booked at a rate of 280 euros per week in May, June, September and October. Rates for July and August are 350 euros per week. Photos of the Little House can now be seen by clicking on the link. There is a large terrace with patio furniture, parking across the street, access to bicycles, barbecue, maps and other information. Rental is usually a 7 day minimum.

Our own 3 bedroom stone home is located 7 kilometres from Saumur. Built in 1826, the house features a large private courtyard, caves, 3 comfortable bedrooms (one with an ensuite bathroom) each able to sleep two people, a living/dining room, a modern kitchen with a dishwasher, an upstairs wc, another shower, a washer and dryer, patio furniture, seven bicycles and secure parking across the street in a garage. Photos of this house can be seen by clicking on Photos of the Big House.  As we are living in this house it is not available for rental except under special circumstances.

The village is in an area of vineyards so finding wine to taste is a matter of walking down the street.  A walk through the vineyards will take you to the Église de Parnay which dates from the 11th century.  There is a large market in Saumur on Saturdays and a smaller one in Montsoreau on Sundays. Montsoreau also holds a large "Marché aux Puces" (flea market) on the second Sunday of every month. Nearby is the Abbaye de Fontevraud where the Ducs of Anjou and English monarchs, Richard the Lion-hearted and Henry II, are buried along with Eleanor d'Aquitaine and Isabelle d'Angoulême.  The Château de Saumur features three museums. Saumur is the home of the National Equitation School where the Cadre Noir is resident. Tours and Angers are about an hour away by car. Le Mans and Poitiers are a little further (one and a quarter hours each).

Rental of the Little House is by the week with May, June, September and October being low season and July and August being high season.  Long term rentals are possible with different terms.  Please refer to the Rates pages for the rates for the Little House. Rates for the Big House are negotiated.  Rental during the winter months is at the same rate as low season but you may well be asked to pay a supplement for firewood. Both houses are non-smoking properties.
